I assume I was about half a game since I was around level 40... And when I saw Lufia I found out this remake, I felt that nostalgia along the feeling of "now, I will finally beat this game"!!!

But since the game was so different from the original version, after a couple hours I left the game 'cause I wasn't getting that nostalgia feeling since the differecnes kept from remebering and comparing to the original one...

It was just by these days (november 10th 2012 if I remeber correctly...) that I found this game again and decided to give it another try I started to really like it. So I started searching for info about comparisons/reviews and people opinions for these major changes in the game and found your text which is brilliant! Made a lot of things really clear and got me to definitelly love this new (old) game! XD

Now I can finally tottaly accept it! Even though my mind and fashion design are still stuck in the nineties... I really prefer armor and capes over coats and jackets... But you proved me this game have to be this way. By the age, personality, social position or job of the characters, it's tottaly understandable and reasonable why they dress like they do!

I'll really finish this game and then do it gain back on the original game!! Ialways felt this game was kind understimated since I liked it so much few years ago and most people seemed to not know or talk about this game and nothing new related to it was ever released... But now it your words and this remake it seems that this game can easily be packed with Final Fantasys, Chrono Trigger and some other SNES and RPG classics, top 10 RPG and maybe even top 20 senes games ever or something like that, I guess...Marcohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09176462452390057141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3651824107788498949.post-63638376030799913042012-07-19T01:15:00.700-04:002012-07-19T01:15:00.700-04:00Nice overview of the series. It's shocking to think that a game like that came out for the SNES, and here we are looking at the probably release of a PS4 in the next year or two and BoF2 still holds up.

As for Ryu and Nina, it would be fantastic if Capcom released a new Breath of Fire game with today's technology that let them fully realize a story between those two crazy lovebirds (well one lovebird and one lovedragon, I guess?), but it does seem like Capcom's put this one to bed. They make a lot more money off of the Ryu that shoots blue fireballs from his fists.

That said, you can never be sure what's going to happen in this industry. Maybe we'll get a new BoF title one day after all. We can always hope, at least.David Pratthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09741107987673246357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3651824107788498949.post-74203987310430078442012-03-25T14:36:23.448-04:002012-03-25T14:36:23.448-04:00Demon's Souls, along with Dark Souls, are amon...Demon's Souls, along with Dark Souls, are among my favorite games for the PS3. It's a shame that these games will probably never see any PC porting. I remember how Demon's Souls completely took me by surprise at how interesting the game is. The game is certainly very challenging, but I was hooked on it from start to finish. There are plenty of pvp issues with both games, but eh. I don't pvp much so that doesn't matter a whole lot. I wonder how much better can these games become should the company/developer decide to take a more open world approach (a la Dragon's Dogma).EmpathicTempesthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07273885255852213129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3651824107788498949.post-64562280857640870592012-03-25T14:16:40.517-04:002012-03-25T14:16:40.517-04:00Great blog article here. I'm actually very surprised that no one, other than myself, have commented on this blog. This reminds me of how divided the majority of the Breath of Fire fanbase is. There is almost always little to no support from most of the fans when it comes to sticking together as a community and praising fan-based Breath of Fire stuff/works. This all comes as such a damn shame. No wonder the series seems to be dying. I'll bet Capcom sees this dividing of the Breath of Fire community as an eye opener, which was why the company decided to put the series in sleep mode. I mean damn, there hasn't been any new Breath of Fire game since Dragon Quarter... and it's been almost 10 years since the release of that game.

I'm glad that you're one of the few to see the qualities of Breath of Fire 2. To me, Breath of Fire 2 was, and still is, the best in the series story-wise. Part 4 trails closely behind, but then again, this chapter to the series seemed to be some sort of alternate universe. In other words, it has no ties with any of the previous games other than Ryu and Nina returning in different incarnations (again).

The only thing I would have to disagree with you about for the series is that I actually want Capcom to focus more, but not heavily, on the romance side of things in the series. I was severely disappointed at how so many things were left hanging for Ryu and Nina in Breath of Fire 2 and 3... especially in 2. For Breath of Fire 2, throughout the game, anyone with enough common sense can see that Nina clearly has a thing for Ryu. Some fans would argue otherwise, but I think these fans only do so because they're anti-Ryu/Nina for whatever damn reasons that almost always makes no sense. There's plenty of clues to support the fact that Ryu and Nina always has some sort of connection that goes beyond a normal friendship. If Capcom ever decides to reboot the series, I hope to god that they will at least expand a bit more in the romance; nothing overdone (FF8 style romance was horrendous) but enough to let players know that the two main lead characters love each other. I want this done because I hate it when game developers leave too much for the audience's imagining.EmpathicTempesthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07273885255852213129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3651824107788498949.post-9101168692020879032012-03-21T10:21:23.815-04:002012-03-21T10:21:23.815-04:00http://i.imgur.com/kkpr6.png

I'd love to play Dark Souls there, as it looks pretty excellent. The only thing I don't much care for is how very "min-max"-y the -Souls series tends to be: if you try to use two different strategies concurrently, or make a change to your strategy partway through the game, you will likely fail. Since the titles both lack an option to reset your character's point distribution, it can suck.

I hear that as long as you pick 1 thing to do, and absolutely dump into that 1 thing, you can beat the game without too much difficulty.
